Liver Detoxification

Hey Guys😊😊😊,

I'm continuing on the detoxification train and gonna look at detoxifying the liver !!!!

Let me start by looking at what is the liver and its functions.

According to liverdoctor.com, 


"The liver is the cleanser and filter of the bloodstream and is of vital importance. It is the largest organ in the body and has an enormous amount of blood flowing through it every minute of our lives.

What are some functions of the liver?

  • Produces bile which is stored in the gallbladder and released for the digestion of fats.
  • Stores glucose in the form of glycogen which is converted back to glucose when needed for energy.
  • Stores vitamins A, D, K, B12 and folate and synthesizes blood clotting factors.
  • Breaks down or transforms substances like ammonia, metabolic waste, drugs, alcohol and chemicals, so that they can be excreted. 
  • Removes toxic matter such as dead cells, microorganisms, chemicals, drugs and particulate debris from the bloodstream. 
So what are some signs that your liver might need a detox?

How to detoxify your liver?

According to http://detoxdiy.com/how-to-detox-your-liver the following can be done to detoxify your liver:
  • Drink raw vegetable juice- juicing
  • Decrease intake of fatty foods like cheese, butter, pizza
  • Increase intake of all Vitamin Bs as well as Vitamin C
  • Increase intake of potassium rich foods e.g. bananas, sweet potato, spinach
  • Engage in fasting intermittently
  • Eat more Iron rich foods if you are anemic e.g. spinach, water cress, patchoi
  • Reduce intake of processsed foods and refined sugars- snacks and soft drinks
  • Increase water intake. You may place fruit or lemon in the water to give it taste
